Wedding Bells are Ringing at the Halltown Memorial Chapel
The Halltown Memorial Chapel Association is excited to announce that the restoration of the Halltown Memorial Chapel has been completed, thanks to a generous grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s “Preserving Black Churches” program and monetary and in-kind donations from the Association’s volunteers, supporters and the community. The limestone Chapel was built in 1901 by volunteers for the use of the local African-American community and features four stunning stained-glass windows, original white plaster walls, beautiful hardwood flooring, and a soaring cathedral ceiling. Effective September 1, 2024, the Association is making the restored Chapel available as a rental for small weddings, celebrations and family gatherings with fewer than 25 guests. Inquiries about renting the Chapel and requests for a rental contract should be emailed to Halltownmemorialchapelassn@gmail.com, and information about renting the Chapel as a small wedding venue is also available on the MarryMeinWV Facebook page. The attached photograph shows the MarryMeinWV pop-up wedding set-up in the Chapel (including 24 white folding chairs). Individuals renting the Chapel directly from the Association for weddings or other celebrations will need to provide tables and chairs.
